Rites at Maxwell Saturday for Late Geo. J. Boitnott

Maxwell, Mar. 13 -- Funeral services for George J. Boitnott were held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 in the Church of Christ with the pastor, the Rev. Stanley Mahannah, officiating, assisted by Rev. Geo. H. Adkins of Collins. A male quartet composed of Orville Woodman, Orlando O. Holtby, Arnold Scott and Dorus Myers sand three hymns, "I Know That My Redeemer Liveth," "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Hide Me," with Mrs. Ned A. Pearson accompanying on the organ.

Casket bearers were Stark Atwood and Fred Hines of Collins, H. E. Alverson, C. B. French, M. D. Warner and E. L. Wood of Maxwell. Floral offerings were very beautiful and profuse.

Interment was in the Maxwell Cemetery.

Rev. George H. Adkins, pastor of the Collins Church of Christ read the following short life sketch:

George Joseph Boitnott, son of Washington Boitnott and Salome Brubaker, was born January 26, 1871 and departed this life March 7 1945, at the age of 74 years.

He was born in Maxwell and with the exception of eight years spent in Des Moines, lived there all his life. In his youth he graduated from the Maxwell High School and later was united with the Church of Christ in Maxwell.

On June 1, 1898, he was unite din marriage at Maxwell to Miss Berta Millhouse of Collins. After their marriage they resided at Maxwell where for many years he worked as a jeweler, later becoming postmaster which post he filled for twelve years. At the time of his death he resided at the farm home of his daughter, Mrs. Hugh Lint.

He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. John Dague of Verndail, Minn., Mrs. Emma Adams of Des Moines and Miss Ida Boitnott of Los Angeles; one brother, Frank Boitnott of Berkeley, Calif.; and three children, Gwendoline, Mrs. Hugh Lint, Virginia, Mrs. Hugh Fertig both of Collins and one son, Monte Joe Boitnott, stationed somewhere in Italy. Also seven grandchildren and one great grandson and many friends.
