Hold Final Rites For Thomas S. Sheue

Funeral services were held April 24 in the Illinois Grove church for Thomas S. Sheue, who passed away on April 22 in the St. Thomas Mercy hospital in Marshalltown.

Rev. John Baiotto was the pastor in charge. Interment was in the Illinois Grove cemetery.

Casket bearers were Claire Reed, Sr., Robert Comfort, Lester Karns, Harold Rash, Marion Phillips and Ross Holveck.

Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Agnes Cerka, Evelyn Blayney and Mrs. Marjorie Reed.

Carroll Bailey, Max McBride, William Adams, Eldon Crain, with Mrs. Delos Dakins at the piano, furnished the music.

Obituary

Thomas Sherman Sheue was born July 10, 1865, at Peoria, Iowa, and passed away at the St. Thomas Mercy hospital in Marshalltown on April 22, 1949, at the age of 83 years, nine months and 12 days.

He was united in marriage to Olive Jeanette Smith. To this union two children were born, Lela Chloe and Harry Martin.

In 1905, the family moved to Iola, Kansas, where they lived for seven years. Mr. Sheue was a member of the Methodist church in Kansas. He lived a very useful life and was always ready to help in time of need. He was a carpenter by trade and his hobby was working with flowers.

The last 25 years he made his home with his nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dunwoody of Zearing, near the Illinois Grove community.

Survivors

Surviving are his two children, Mrs. R. W. Pruitt of Odessa, Wash., and H. M. Sheue of Huntington Beach, Calif., five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; one nephew, three nieces, and 12 great nieces and nephews, besides a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1909, his parents, four sisters and one brother.

To his many friends he was known as "Uncle Tom."
