Hold Guy Cooper Rites in Maxwell

Funeral services for the late Guy Cooper, vice-president of the Maxwell State bank, were held Friday afternoon in Cooper's Funeral home Maxwell, the Rev. Paul Hicks, a friend of the family, officiating. Burial was in the Maxwell cemetery.

The large funeral home was filled to capacity as a large number of relatives and friends from various communities joined the Maxwell community in paying last respect to the deceased and his family.

Obituary

The following brief life story of Mr. Cooper was read by the Rev. Hicks during the services: Guy, the son of Stephen E. and Nellie Squires Cooper, was born in Maxwell, Iowa, April 26, 1885. He was graduated from the Maxwell schools in 1903 and shortly thereafter entered into the partnership with his father in the furniture and undertaking business, later continuing a partnership with his brother, Ernest.

On June 16, 1909, he was united in marriage to Miss Nellie Garis. With the exception of one year in Dallas, Texas, Guy resided his entire life in Maxwell. He was stricken suddenly on July 5, while on vacation near Park Rapids, Minn., and died.

He was always active in the civic and business affairs of Maxwell and in recent years had been vice-president of the Maxwell State bank.

Survivors

His loss is mourned by his wife, Nellie, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Grace Flickinger, who has made her home with them since the death of her husband, Fred, an aged stepmother, Mrs. S. S. Cooper; sisters, Nellie Ebert of Nevada and Hazel Sherman of Maxwell, and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
