Last Rites For Mrs. John Thorson Largely Attended

Memorial Lutheran church was filled to over capacity Wednesday afternoon with sorrowing relatives and friends in attendance at the last rites for Mrs. John Thorson, 48, who passed away at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames on Monday, July 25. Rev. E. P. Windman officiated.

Mrs. Arthur Hale was at the organ. Bill Child sang "The Lord's Prayer" at the close of the service. The very many beautiful floral offering were arranged by Mrs. John W. Peterson, Mrs. R. Fred Nelson and Mrs. Milo Berka. Many memorials in memory of the deceased had also been given.

The pall bearers were nephews: Don Bruce and Tom Yungclas, Ted Thorson, Eric Thorson and Wrex Wilson.

Committal was n the Cambridge cemetery with the Cambridge New Hope Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of Which she had been a past matron in charge of the impressive burial service.

Obituary

Trena Mae Wilson, daughter of Thomas and Talitha Wilson, was born on the family farm near Cambridge, Iowa, on May 28, 1901. She grew to womanhood in that community, graduated from Cambridge high school, attended Drake University where she received her kindergarten-primary certificate. She taught two years in Cambridge then took further college work in California and taught a year inn Compton, Calif.

Sept. 17, 1924, she was united in marriage to John Aemil Thorson at Webster City, Iowa. They have since farmed in the Cambridge and Nevada community.

To this union were born three children, Phyllis, Marilyn and Roger. Besides her husband and children she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Clawson of Cambridge and two brothers and a sister. They are Guy Wilson of Kelley, Kenneth Wilson of Cambridge and Ethel (Mrs. Wm. Yungclas) of Webster City. Also three step brothers, Wrex Clawson of Cambridge, Ross Clawson and Gale Senn of Houston, Texas, survive. She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews and a host of other.

Mrs. Thorson was active in community affairs. She was a member of the Memorial Lutheran church, and at the time of her death was president of the Woman's Missionary Society. She was past matron of the Eastern Star of Cambridge and a member of the White Shrine. she was a former 4-H club leader and always active in Farm Bureau work having a number of offices in that organization. She was also active in other community affairs, especially schools, and was past president of the Shipley PTA.

Mrs. Thorson was a kind and loving wife and mother, her family being always first in her thoughts. She was by nature a most hospitable person and the Thorson home has always been a center for community and social gatherings.
