Obituary

B. F. Ambrose, son of the later J. W. and Lucy Ambrose, was born in Milledgville, Ill., Dec. 29, 1870, and passed away at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines at the age of 78 years, eight months and 16 days, following several months of ill health.

Mr. Ambrose had been a resident of story county for over 63 years. When he came to this county, with his parents, the family lived for a short time at Colo. They later moved to Nevada and entered the mercantile business.

Mr. Ambrose attended the Nevada school and later attended Cornell college at Mt. Vernon. After his schooling he joined his father and two brothers in the mercantile business. This firm had a long and enviable record of honest, successful business relations in this community.

He was married to Miss Mayme Allen on Jan. 18, 1894, in Nevada. This union joined two of Nevada's outstanding families, and the children of this home have done honor to their parents and grandparents as well as to the city of Nevada.

Mr. Ambrose joined the Methodist church early in life and moved his membership to the Nevada Methodist church in the year 1897 under the ministry of the Rev. D. Austin. Up until a few years ago he was active in his church relationship and was regular in attendance upon the services of the church.

He was well liked during his lifetime in active business. His business associates praise him as a competitor, saying he was always square and fair in his dealings and methods. His clerks and those he worked with compliment him as generous and just in all his dealings.

He greatly loved his home and family. As a result of this affection he spent time with his family and has left an infallible impression upon his children.
