Funeral Sunday, Burial Monday of Henry Albert Strong
Funeral services for Henry Albert Strong were conducted at the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada, Iowa Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Max McConnell sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "In the Garden." Miss Virginia Beierschwal was at the piano.
Burial was in the Iowa Falls Cemetery on Monday.
Obituary of Henry A. Strong
Henry Albert Strong, son of Samuel and Henrietta Strong was born at Holland, Mich., Dec. 25, 1867 and passed away at the Mingus Nursing Home in Des Moines, Thursday, Sept. 8, being 81 years, 8 months and 14 days old. He was sick only a few days.
Mr. Strong came with his parents to Marshall County, Iowa when he was one year old. There he grew to manhood, working on farm and doing gardening work. He was always interested in gardening and the raising of flowers. He loved this work and seemed to be very successful at the task of growing vegetables and flowers.
On March 16, 1909 he was united in marriage to Hampton, Iowa to Clara Holbrock. One son, Russell was born to this union. The previous year, 1903, he had located on a farm near Iowa Falls, Iowa. He lived on the farm till 1920 when he came to Iowa Falls to live. He spent much of his time in gardening at Iowa Falls. He lived there till 1948, when he came to Nevada to make his home.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1934. Also one brother and a sister passed away before his going.
Besides his son, Russell, he is survived by three brothers, Dell Strong of M-tley, Minn., George Strong of Owatonna, Minn., and John Strong of Marshalltown, Iowa, and two sisters, Mrs. Elmina Peterson and Mrs. Mary Beach both of Marshalltown, Iowa. Along with many nieces and nephews and other more distant relatives, Mr. Strong leaves many friends who will miss him.
