Final Services For Mrs. Martin Maland

Funeral services for Mrs. Martin Maland were held on Thursday, Nov. 24, with a short service in the home at 1:30 and in the Huxley Palestine church at 2 o'clock with Rev. Harry Stoutland officiating. Rev. Joel Dobbe of Mason City gave a short talk.

Rev. Stoutland based his remarks on I John 3, emphasizing the thoughts, saved by grace, children of God and the thankful life. Rev. Dobbe spoke from John 14, which was favorite reading of Mrs. Maland.

Music

The choir included Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Richardson, Elman Sheldahl, Omar Brendeland, Lowell Wee, Mrs. John Beard, Nancy Sheldahl and Jean Wee. They sang "My God How Wonderful Thou Art" and "My Faith Looks Up to Thee." LaVerne Richardson sang "Behold the Hosts Arrayed in White."

The many beautiful flowers were arranged by Mrs. Louise Johnson and Mrs. Sanford Sydnes.

Pall bearers were S. B. Sheldahl, Jeffrey Houge, Omar Maland, Palmer Saveraid, John Saveraid and J. O. Saveraid.

Burial was in the Palestine cemetery.

Relatives from 14 towns, other than Huxley were at the funeral to pay their last tribute to a loved relative.

Obituary

Anna Marie Severaid Maland, daughter of John and Elizabeth Severeid, was born on June 5, 1874. She passed away Nov. 21, 1949, at the age of 75 years, five months and 16 days.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a life-long member of the Lutheran church.

She was united in marriage to Martin J. Maland, July 12, 1912.

Survivors

Surviving are her husband, Martin; two daughters, Elizabeth and JaVerna, and one brother, Ole of Cambridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and four sisters.
