Rites for Story City Man Conducted Wed.

Final rites were conducted on Wednesday, Nov. 22, for Lewis Oleson of Story City, who died at Mary Greeley hospital on Sunday, Nov. 19, after a long illness.

Services were held from the Oleson home in Story City at 1:30 p. m. and at 2 o'clock from the Immanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. A. O. Skibsrud in charge.

Rev. Skibsrud sang "The Old Rugged Cross", and "Behold A Host" at the church. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery. Pall bearers were Ingvald Hill, Peter Millang, Wier Thorson, Lester Barkema, I. W. Perry and John Oppedahl.

Obituary

Lewis Oleson was born Feb. 24, 1879, in Norway to parents Rasmus and Karina Oleson. He immigrated to America with his parents in 1885, arriving in Story City on July 4 of that year.

Having been baptized in the Lutheran church in his native Norway, he was confirmed in St. Petri Lutheran church in Story City. He attended that country school near his parental home south of Story City, and in 1900 completed a course in the business college at Humboldt.

He was employed as the first clerk in the B. B. Brattebo store, working later in the John Nordskog grocery until taking up the painter's trade which occupation he followed until his final illness.

On Jan. 18, 1902, he was married to Margaret Frette by the Rev. T. T. Heimarck, with the distinction of being the first to be married in the newly-erected Immanuel church, which stood at that time adjacent to the Immanuel parsonage.

Mr. Oleson was a member of Immanuel Lutheran congregation since the time of his marriage, in which fellowship he continued to the time of his death.

Survivors

He leaves to mourn his passing, besides his wife, one son, Lyle of Des Moines, and three daughters, Mrs. Lee Milton Jr., Des Moines, Mrs. Charlotte Barkema, Jewell, and Mrs. Wilbur Bidne, Blooming Prairie, Minn., together with seven grandchildren and several cousins.
