Obituary

Mary "Crane" Elliott was the third daughter of James and Catherine Crain. She was born on March 16, 1866 at Augusta, Ill., and passed away at Waterloo, Iowa on October 11, 1950, being past 84 years of age at the time of her death.

She moved with her parents to St. Catherine, Mo., where she lived until she was eight years old. The family then moved to Sweet Springs, Mo., where she grew to young womanhood. Here she attended the district and high school. She came to Morrison, Grundy county, Iowa in May 1887 and was married to John C. Elliott on November 3, 1887. To this union two sons were born, both of whom survive. In September, 1896, the family moved to Goldfield, Iowa where they lived until September, 1903. They lived in Arahoe, Neb., for two and half years then came to Elwell, and later to Maxwell, where they lived for 14 years.

In February 1919, Mr. and Mrs. Elliott moved to Wayzata, Minn., where they lived until November, 1930. The next residence was in Cedar Falls, where, on August 3, 1931, Mr. Elliott passed away. Since that time Mrs. Elliott has made her home with her sons and with other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Elliott was always interested in Church and Christian work, being active, as long as her health permitted, in the work of her church and in the work of the W.C.T.U. and other Christian efforts. She taught Sunday school classes for many years and took an active part in district as well as local Sunday school programs.

She was a member of a family of nine children all of whom have passed on excepting one sister who lives in Waterloo. Her three Grandchildren brought her much joy. They are Robert, Francis and Max Elliott. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren and many other relatives and a host of friends.

This community joins in extending sincere sympathy to her sons, Horace N. and Irvine J. together with their families and other relatives. It can be said with warmth and honesty that Mrs. Elliott was admired and that she was a genuine Christian.
