Last Rites Held For Albert Langland
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 12, at Marshalltown for Albert M. Langland, 69, from the Elin Lutheran church. Burial was in the Riverside cemetery at Marshalltown.
Casket bearers were Abel Nelson, Louis Lura, S. N. Thompson, Vori Thompson, Willmein Olson and Albert Hill.
Music was furnished by Thomas Stensvog, soloist, and Mrs. E. D. Waterman, pianist.
Mrs. Albert Hill and Myrtle Thompson cared for the flowers.
Mr. Langland died suddenly at the home of his daughter. Mrs. B. W. Lyons at Marshalltown on Saturday, Sept. 9.
Obituary
Albert Langland was born in Stavanger, Norway, the son of Thor and Margaret Langland, and came to Marshall county at the age of 13.
In 1903 he was married to Susan Benson of Laurel, and farmed in Marshall and Story counties until 1940 when they moved to their home in Zearing. Last year they moved to their daughter's home, Mrs. V. L. Buffington in Des Moines.
Surviving are his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Amy Talmadge and Mrs. B. W. Lyons of Marshalltown, Mrs. Ida Pitcher, and Mrs. V. L. Buffington of Des Moines, and Mrs. Bill Brouhard of Zearing, three sons, Thor of Zearing, Harvey of Des Moines and Albert, Jr. of Chicago, 11 grandchildren, and two brothers, George of Los Angeles ad Thor of Norway.
Preceding him in death were a daughter, four sisters and one brother.
