THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January , 1900, page , column . "OBITUARY - Mrs. Sarah Barber, nee Stemler, wife of Benj. Barber, died January 8, 1900, at her home in Indian Creek township, Story county, Iowa. The deceased was born April 25th, 1866, in Johnson county, Iowa, thus being in her thirty-fourth year at the time of her death. On the 8th of April, 1883, she was united in marriage with Benj. Barber, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Stemler, in Washington township, Polk county, Iowa. This union was blessed with seven children, who, with a sorrowing husband, survive her. A short service was held at the house on Tuesday, Jan. 9th, followed by preaching service at Jefferson Methodist church. Though the weather was disagreeable quite a number of friends and neighbors of the deceased paid their last respects to her. Interment was made in Center Grove cemetery. The bereaved and sorrowing ones have the sympathy of the entire community. Services were conducted by the writer, Rev. George Knies, pastor Mt. Zion Evangelical church."
