THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, November 8, 1906, page 4, column 2. "In Memoriam - Carl Leroy, infant son of Charles and Florence Backous, born November 3, 1906, died November 4, 1906. Father, mother and little brother mourn the loss of little Carl, a beautiful precious babe, budded on earth to bloom in heaven. Console yourselves even as David saying "He cannot come to me, I can go to him." His baby hand may be beckoning you to the heavenly land for it is said, "A little child shall lead them." Oh, for resignation to say, "The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away; Blessed be the name of the Lord." Wm McVay."
