AGED PIONEER LAID TO REST

Mrs. R. Rasmussen (Hia) Passed Away at Her Home Last Wednesday. Funeral Held Lasts Saturday from Bergen Church.

Martha Rasmussen (Hia) was born on January 10, 1838, at Hauge, Helmeland's Prestegjeld, Norway, where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Rasmus Rasmussen, September 15, 1869 in the land of her birth. In 1870 they emigrated to this country and settled near Ossian where they resided for three years when they moved to Roland to a farm six miles southeast. In 1904 they moved into town where they have resided since.

To this union six children were born whom are Rasmus of Marshalltown, Bernard, L. E. and Mrs. Rachel Danielson of near Nevada, Mrs. Bertha Rierson of Willmar, Minn., and George, who has preceded his mother to the Great Beyond. She also leaves to mourn her death, besides her children, 28 grandchildren, of whom Celia Rierson has been staying with her grandparents for the past three years caring for them.

Funeral services were conducted from Bergen Church on Saturday with Rev. M. O. Sumstad speaking the words of comfort to the bereaved family.
