Services In Maxwell For Willis H. Harris
Funeral services for Willis Henry Harris, who passed away Sunday, March 5, of a heart attack at his home in Creston, were held Wednesday afternoon from the Maxwell Christian church with Rev. Malmin of Des Moines charge.
A quartet, composed of Leota Scott, Lyle Scott, Jennie Kirk and Corus Myers, sang "In th Garden" and "City Four Square."
The many and beautiful flowers were in charge of Mrs. Gladys Woods.
Robert Thompson, Dale Scott, Barton Rittgers, Dale Pearson, Eldon Pearson and Virgil Law served as pall bearers. Interment was in the Maxwell cemetery.
Obituary
Willis Henry Harris, 49, died of a heart attack Sunday afternoon, March 5, at 3:30, in Creston, Iowa. He was the son of Mattie Perry of Osceola, Iowa, and John M. Harris, Cresell, Ore., who are both living. To this union was born an older brother, who passed away at the age of six months.
At the age of 21 he was joined in marriage to Edith Mae Bell, who preceded him in death in 1942. To this union were born Cleota Burk of Collins, Clifton Yvon Harris of Moline, Ill., and Duane Harris of Muroc, California. The last years of this union were spent in Maxwell, where he was engaged in dairy farming and served as chairman for the Farm Bureau in Story county.
Later in 1946, he married Valentine Long of Creston, Iowa, where they made their home. To this union was born one son, John, age two. Mr. Harris was employed in Creston as a Star Route Mail carrier. He retired in 1948, having owned the Story hotel in Nevada. Until the present time he has been able to carry on this business successfully from his home in Creston.
Survivors
He is survived by his wife and above four children, his mother and father and the following brothers and sisters: Eva Moore of Centerville, Mary Hull of Ellston, Norene Briley of Creston Orville Perry of Ellston and Lawrence Pearry of Murray, all in Iowa.
