Obituary
Paul Franklin Talmadge, son of John and Iva Talmadge, was born at West Union, Iowa, on July 28, 1907, and passed away very suddenly at his home in Zearing on January 29, 1950 at the age of 42 years, six months, and one day. Most of his boyhood days were spent in Zearing, where his father was editor and publisher of the newspaper.
Paul was married to Amy Margaret Langland on Feb. 8, 1929, and they made their home in Marshalltown for about 15 years where he was employed at the Miller Printing service.
While in Marshalltown, their only child, a son, Richard Paul, was born to them. About four years ago he and his family moved to Zearing, where he took over the business which his father formerly had, as editor and publisher now called "New Tri-County News." He was well qualified for this task, having been literally brought up at the printers bench.
Survivors
Surviving him are his wife, Amy Talmadge, and son, Richard Paul; two brothers, Gerald of Barboursville, W. Va., and Charles of Rochester, N. Y.; and two sisters, Doris Chance of Zearing, and Dorothy Ameigh of Green Springs, Ohio; besides other relatives and friends.
Both parents preceded him in death.
Paul Talmadge served his fellowman well, and was always interested in the betterment of the community in which he lived. His friendly smile and greeting, as well as his personality manifesting itself through the printed pages of local news, will be greatly missed by all.
