Last Rites For Frank G. Booher At Prairie City

Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Prairie City on Saturday, December 31 for Frank Grover Booher, who was born in Nevada, June 27, 1883 and entered into rest December 29 at Prairie City, Iowa.

Rev. Warren Hile of Des Moines, former pastor of the Prairie City Christian church, officiated at the last rites.

"Give of Your Best to the Master" and "Nearer My God to Thee" were sung by Wm. Van Zee accompanied by Mrs. S. E. Churchill.

The casket bearers were Louis Bikenholtz, Clarence Faidley, Russell Danley, Dick Stravers, Ira Van Wyngarden and Frank Wagner. Committal was in the Wavelend cemetery in Prairie City.

During the service, in which the officiating minister paid a high tribute to the life of the deceased, the following obituary was read:

Obituary

Frank G. Booher, son of Vitus and Mary Booher was born June 27, 1883 at Nevada, Iowa and departed this life on December 27, 1949 at his home in Prairie City, Iowa at the age of sixty-six years, six months and two days.

Frank was the oldest of a family of nine children. The early years of his life were lived in or near Nevada. On March 20, 1907, he was married to Maude Ange Parker of Colo, Iowa. In 1921 he came to Prairie City, Ia.

To this union were born eight children: Violet, who passed away at the age of seventeen, Burton, Helen, Kenneth Paul, who died in infancy, Rex, Carl, Mary Jane and Warren Ray.

His wife, Maude, passed away at the family home in Prairie City, June 28, 1942. He later married Mildred Warner of Prairie City whom he leaves to mourn his passing; also two daughters, Mrs. Helen Wagner of Prairie City, Mrs. Mary Jane Rogers of Enid, Oklahoma; four sons, Burton of Grimes, Rex of Grundy Center, Carl of Prairie City, and Warren who it in the armed forces, also one sister, Mrs. Cora Conklin of San Bruno, California, three brothers, Oscar of Charles City, Ia., Marion of Boulder, Colo., and W. R. Booher of Portland, Oregon, and 16 grandchildren besides other relatives and a host of friends.

At about 14 years of age, Mr. Booher made his confession of faith in Jesus Christ and became active in Christian service, which he continued throughout his life. To his family and friends, the life he lived was fine example of the sentiment of his favorite song which was "Give of Your Best to the Master."

In Attendance at Rites

In attendance at the last rites were all the members of the deceased's family and in addition were his brother Oscar and family of Charles City, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Booher of Des Moines, Carl Holder, Mrs. Rena Phillips, Mrs. Wm. Booher and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Handsaker of Nevada.
