Last Rites Held For Grant H. Eggland, 45
ROLAND -- Funeral services were held for Grant H. Eggland Wednesday afternoon, March 5, with prayer service at the Erickson Funeral home and at 2:30 in the Bergen Lutheran church with the Rev. Allen E. Nelson in charge. Otto Hanson sang "Rock of Age" at the funeral home and "Jesus Lover of My Soul" at the church and Donald Boyd sang "It Is Well With My Soul."
Pall bearers were Earl Hammersland, Irvin Eggland, Boyd Michaelson, Kent Boyd, Richard Eggland and Otis Cole. Burial was made in the Roland cemetery. Relative and friends attend the funeral came from Des Moines, Los Angeles and Van Nuys, Calif., Vincent, Fort Dodge, Terril, Mt. Ayr, Radcliff, Story City, Ames, Nevada, Stanhope, Boone and Ackley, Iowa, Northfield and Faribault, Minn.
Obituary
Grant Hubert Eggland, son of Albert Eggland and the late Isabelle Boyd Eggland, was born in July 7, 1906 at Roland, Iowa.
He was baptized August 12, 1906 and confirmed July 24, 1931, by the late Rev. J. N. Sandven in the Salem Lutheran church. He passed away on March 1, 1952, at the age of 45 years, seven months and 24 days.
He attended a rural school and later the Roland consolidated school from which he graduated in 1924.
On June 28, 1936, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Cole at Bergen Lutheran church by Rev. M. O. Sumstad. To this union was born three children, Marcia, Gregory and Daniel.
He spent his entire life in the Roland community where he established his home and business. He was a well known livestock buyer and recently a buyer for Tobin Packing Co., of Fort Dodge. He was a member of the Bergen Lutheran church, Lutheran Brotherhood and Roland Community Club.
His departure will be felt by many as he was always interested in the welfare of others. The cherished memory of his love and devotion for his wife and children will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte; three children, Marcia, Gregory and Daniel, his father, Albert Eggland, one brothers Emery of Roland and his sisters, Mrs. Bessie Langland of Northfield, Minn., Mrs. Shiley La Porte of Van Nuys, Calif., Mrs. Ruetta Carlson aof Des Moines Moines and Mrs. Karene Blanding of Lowell, Mich. His mother and sister Ruth preceded him in death.
