Funeral Services Held For Hans E. Stoneberg In Colo Last Tuesday

Funeral services for Hans E. Stoneberg were held in the Methodist church at Colo Tuesday afternoon conducted by the Rev. Alta M. Nichols and interment made in the cemetery at Stanchfield, Minn.

Mrs. Margaret Kock accompanied by Mrs. Robert Quinn sang "Sometime We'll Understand" and "The Lord's Prayer." The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Frank Dykstra and Mrs. Cliff Appelgate.

Pall bearers were Orvill Weir, Fay Ward, Harold Bloomberg, Amos Snyder, Roy Shearer and Bert Olson.

Obituary

Hans E. Stoneberg, on of Carrie and Eric Stoneberg, was born June 15th, 1891 at Orsa, Sweden. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith. His family came to the United States when Hans was nine years of age and settled in Isanti county, Minnesota where he grew to manhood.

He served with the United States Expeditionary Forces in France during World War I. While home on furlough, he was united in marriage to Tillie Ericson on May 10, 1918. To this union three children were born; Bonnie (Mrs. Kenneth Austin) of Owatonna, Minnesota, William of Maxwell and Hans Eugene now serving in the United States Navy.

After being discharged from the army, Hans and his wife came to Story county and have been engaged in farming in the Colo, Collins and Maxwell communities for thirty-three years.

Mr. Stoneberg passed away at his home west of Maxwell, March 8, age 60 to years, eight months and 23 days. He was a charter members of the Colo American Legion. He was also a member of the I.O.O.F., the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Maxwell and the Isaac Walton League.

He is survived by his widow, children; Bonnie, William and Hans Eugene, four grandsons, three brothers, Eric, Pete and Louis and other relatives as well as a host of friends. He will be remembered for his friendly spirit and willingness to always lend a helping hand. He was honest, industrious and ambitious. He made a very real contribution to his adopted country, he himself serving in the First World War, his daughter and eldest son in the second world war and his youngest son in the present conflict.
