STORY CITY MAN KILLED IN SOUTH
E. G. Wiggins Killed by Bullet in Hands of Moonshiner Last Sunday, While Former Was on Duty as Special Agent for Government

Shot while looking after his work for the government as a special agent inquiring into illicit liquor manufacturing activities in the south was the fate of E. G. Wiggins, a well-known resident of Story City, according to a telegram received there from Oklahoma. Mr. Wiggins was shot and instantly killed Sunday by a moonshiner whom he was attempting to arrest.

Wiggins was assigned to the south-eastern Oklahoma field, where the department has been active in its attempt to curb moonshining. Details of the shooting were not given however.

Mr. Wiggins was widely known in the county, as he lived here for thirty-five years. He was 57 years of age. He was especially prominent in the work of the Knights of Pythias, and in the grand lodge of the order had a wide acquaintance thruout the state.

Surviving Mr. Wiggins are his widow, two daughters and three sons. The children are Mrs. Gwendolyn MacDowell, formerly of Ames and now of Story City, Mrs. Zella Larson of Mason City, Verne of Salt Lake City, and E. G. Jr., and Max, of Story City.

The body arrived in Story City today, and funeral services will be held Friday afternoon.
