He came from Adams county, Ohio with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Couser and has been a continuous resident of Story county since childhood. He was united in marriage by Rev. S. Skogsberg, Nov. 20, 1895, to Mehitabel Bartlett, who preceded him in death several years ago. Mr. Couser was teacher in the rural schools preceding his marriage, township trustee for a term of years and occupied other positions of responsibility while on the farm. He served mankind honestly and faithfully and while enduring his many years of affliction, found pleasure and pastime with fruits and flowers and was made just a bit happier when he could take bouquet of choice flowers to the room where a friend in pain could be cheered and made to smile through the pain.
