W. B. Illingsworth, a Pioneer of Cambridge

Cambridge, Feb. 11--William B. Illingsworth, who died at his home in Cambridge, was born at Logan, Lewis county, New York, on May 23, 1851. He died at the venerable age of 83 years, 8 months and 12 days.

He came with his parents to Cambridge, Iowa, when eleven years old and lived on the Illingsworth homestead two miles south of town.

He was united in marriage to Ellen M. Myers on May 1, 1875. To this union were born three children, Mrs. E. T. Round of Cambridge and Frances Illingsworth of Des Moines, who survive him, and Lloyd Illingsworth who preceded him in death December 23, 1930.

The wife and mother passed away at her home in Cambridge on Dec. 2, 1924.

Besides his children he leaves three sisters, Jennie Illingsworth of Fort Dodge, Julia Gartside of Naperville, Ill., Ella Myers of Maxwell, Iowa, and Nature Illingsworth. Also six grandchildren, Mrs. Lola Getchell of Des Moines, Mrs. Florence Gilreath of Ames, Miss Vera Illingsworth, Bill Illingsworth and Berlyn Illingsworth of Des Moines, Merl Illingsworth of Albia, Iowa, and three great-grandchildren, two of Albia and Willard M. Gilreath of Los Angeles, Cal.

Mr. Illingsworth was a farmer in this community for many years and was numbered among its oldest pioneer citizens.

He was a quiet unassuming man, thrifty and industrious, loyal to his home and the interests of his neighbors and friends.
