FORMER ROLAND RESIDENT BURIED

Ole O. Olson Passed Away Last Week at Ninety Years of Age. Funeral at Slater Last Friday.

The funeral of Ole O. Olson was held at Slater from the Norwegian Lutheran church last Friday, Rev. Edward Duea conducting the funeral, after which the remains were interred in the Slater cemetery.

Ole O. Olson was born in Norway ninety years ago, coming to this country in 1866, residing near Slater until fifteen years ago when he moved to Roland. He lived here until less than three years ago, with the exception of one year when he lived in Story City. His wife died eighteen years ago. Nearly three years ago he went to Reidel, Montana to live with a daughter in his declining years.

Four children have passed away before the father and four are living, they being Peder, Lena, Severt and Bertha, besides five step children, George and Nels Nelson, who died at Ames a year ago, and Sophie of Denver, Dora and Andrew of Reidel, Montana.

Mr. Olson was a man of unusual strength and vitality and was in good health until the last three weeks before his death, when he failed rapidly. He was up until two days before his death. The remains were brought to Slater by his daughter, Mrs. A. Williamson.

Transcriber Note: He was buried in Bethlehem Cemetery, Palestine Township, Story County, Iowa. His marker reads: Ole O. Olson 1833-1922; Julia his wife 1838-1904.
