Barbara H. Christy
July 22, 1910, to January 7, 1995Barbara H. Christy, 84, of East Lansing, Mich., formerly of Nevada, died of complications of Alzheimer's Disease at Burcham Hills Retirement Center in East Lansing.
She was born to Charles P. and Bertha Hartman on July 22, 1910. She had been a resident of Nevada for 67 years.
She graduated from Nevada High School before attending AIB for two years. She was married to Harold Christy in 1930 in Des Moines.
She was employed by Story County, both in the clerk of court and sheriff's offices. She worked in the sheriff's office for 37 years, and was made chief deputy sheriff shortly before her retirement in 1977.
She was active in Nevada community projects.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Dorothy Christy of Lansing; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers Charles and John Hartman.
A memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, with Pastor James W. King of the First United Methodist Church officiating. A private family interment will follow.
