OBITUARY

Mrs. Anna Erickson

Mrs. Anna Erickson was born in Imsland, Norway, Europe on January 1, 1829, and died Monday, October 3 at the age of 91 years and nine months. In 1856 she was united in marriage to Sol Erickson and a year later emigrated to this country, settling in Illinois. Here they continued to live for eleven years, until 1868 when the open prairies of Iowa beckoned them and in company with a number of relatives and friends commenced their journey overland to this state. Mr. and Mrs. Erickson purchased a farm southeast of Roland where they made their first home. This farm is now owned by O. J. Erickson.

Mr. Erickson died in 1889 and a few years later Mrs. Erickson moved to Roland, whre she lived until about a year and a half ago. Since that time she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. H. J. Amenson, north of Roland.

Mrs. Erickson leaves to mourn her death six children, they being: Mrs. O. C. Houghland, of Marshalltown; Mrs. H. J. Amenson, Roland; T. S. Erickson, Sioux Falls, S. D.; O. J. Erickson, Roland; Ira Erickson, Graetinger and Mrs. L. M. Olson, Roland, who were all present at the funeral.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon from Bergen church, Mrs. Erickson being a member of this church since its organization.
