Funeral Services for Orvil Sarsfield

Funeral services for Orvil I. Sarsfield, 50, well known farmer and stockman, who died at the St. Thomas hospital in Des Moines* early Friday, were held Sunday afternoon at the Church of Christ in Maxwell and interment was in the Iowa Center cemetery.

The services were in charge of Rev. C. E. Lookingbill of Nevada and were largely attended by relatives and friends.

The following brief sketch of the deceased was read by officiating clergyman.

Orvil I. Sarsfield, son of Robert and Susan Sarsfield was born in Collins township, June 13, 1884, and passed away at the St. Thomas hospital in Marshalltown*, Feb. 22, 1935 at the age of 50 years, 8 months and 9 days. Mr. Sarsfield had been in failing health for some time and under the advice of his doctor had been in the hospital for the past three weeks, hoping that his affliction would yield to the treatment which they gave him, but to no avail, as he passed away on the above date.

On June 15, 1907 he was married to Loucinda Oyler of Collins, Iowa. To this union were born three children, Arthur Leo, living near his father's home; Mildred Marie, of Maxwell, Iowa; Orvil Charles Junior, who lives at home with his parents.

He was a kind and loving husband and father, always interest in the welfare of his family.

Mr. Sarsfield was an energetic farmer, having lived in Story county all his life with the exception of two years when he lived in Palo Alto county with his parents before his marriage. He was a successful stock buyer and shipper both local and from distance; handling many carloads of stock each year. He was a man of integrity and honesty, taking much interest in the community, township and county, having served as township trustee for some time.

He was baptized in the Christian faith during his illness and expressed his submission to God's will.

One brother, LeRoy, has preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, children, aged parents, one brother Charles of Chicago, one sister, Blanche Boyd of Maxwell, several nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: The death certificate of Orval I. Sarsfield states that he died in Marshalltown, Marshall County, Iowa.
