CARR FUNERAL TO BE HELD THURSDAY

PIONEER FARMER AND STOCKMAN DIED SUDDENLY TUESDAY FORENOON

Special to the Journal.
Collins, Aug. 15--Funeral services for Wyatt Carr, 77, Collins township pioneer, who died suddenly from an attack of diabetis, early Tuesday morning, will be held at the home Thursday afternoon at 2:30, providing the daughter, Mrs. Olga Carr-Holm arrives from Los Angeles. The services will be in charge of a former pastor, Rev. A. B. Kern, now of Lake City.

Mr. Carr had been on his farms near Albia when he was taken ill from a poisoning. He had been a sufferer from diabetis for several years and this condition was aggravated, causing his death.

Amos Carr, a son, was summoned from Kirksville, Mo., where the Carr Rodeo company was billed for performance. Four other children also survive, Steve of Collins; Mrs. Olga Holm, of Los Angeles, Cal.; John, of Macon, Mo.; and Charles, of Collins.

Mr. Carr was born at Fonstantine, Mich., July 13, 1851, but came out to Iowa in 1857, locating first on a farm a mile east of old Peoria, just southeat of Maxwell. It was in 1878 that he purchased the farm located just south and east of Collins, upon which he located shortly afterwards.

Mrs. Carr before her marriage was Ellen Angelo.

The Carrs own about 1,000 acres of land near Collins, and their enterprise of mule-raising is well known in many parts of the United States.

Mr. Carr and his big mule hitch teams, driven by himself were long a feature of livestock parade of the Iowa State Fair.
