Death of Edward Helland
Edward Helland, age 69 years, one of the pioneers of this neighborhood died on Friday morning at 2 o'clock at the home of his son Joseph Helland.
Mr. Helland was a native of Norway, a son of Peter and Anna Helland and came to America with his parents in 1870. He had lived in Story county since coming to America, for a period of over half a century. He was of a family of nine children and leaves two brothers and three sisters.
He was twice married and leaves five children by his first wife and one by his second wife. The children, all of whom are living, are Mrs. Abe Tuttle of Elmore, Minn., Peter E. Helland of Platte, S. D., Joseph Helland of Roland, Willie Helland of Platte, S. D., Mrs. O. C. Olson of Forest City and Mrs. Ingvald Jacobson of Forest City.
Mr. Helland had lived since the death of his wife, with his son Joseph on his farm near this place.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from Bergen Church. Interment took place in the Roland Cemetery.
