KILLED IN ACCIDENT
Former Roland Citizen Accidentally Killed at Racine, Wis.
John H. Johnson, a former resident of Roland and a brother to Mrs. Britson and Mrs. Ove Holland, was run over by an auto truck at Racine, Wis., Saturday October 16 and died the following day at a hospital in that city.
Mr. Johnson was a carpenter by trade and while Roland was always considered his home, he had been here very little during the past five years and for the last three years his folks here have heard nothing from him. Mr. Johnson was 50 years of age at the time of his death.
The news of the death of Mr. Johnson and his final identification came thru the inquiry which came to the marshal at Story City. This message read, "Locate relatives of John P. Johnson, supposed to have sisters in Story City."
It was at once feared that the man was John P. Johnson, a former Story City barber and his brother Clarence Johnson lost no time in getting to Racine. On his arrival there he found the man, who had been killed by a truck not his brother but John H. Johnson, and he at once notified his folks at this place.
Thursday evening Ove Holland and Arthur Britson left for Racine to claim the body. They returned Saturday evening.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Bergen church. Internment took place in the Roland cemetery.
