From The Roland Record, Roland, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, August 19, 1920.

Lars Halvorson was born in Stavanger, Norway, on January 7, 1856, and died on July 28, 1920, at the age of 64 years, 5 months and 21 days.

He came to this country with his parents in 1870, settling first at Creston, Ill. He came to Iowa in 1882. On the 2nd of April, 1886 he was united in marriage to Miss Milje Engelson. To this union eleven children were born, nine of which are living, two having died in infancy. He is survived by a wife and the following children: Inez Halvorson of Armstrong, Garfield Halvorson of Belmond, Albert Halvorson of Glenwood, Mrs. Will Tardoff of Armstrong, Levi Halvorson of Radcliffe, Lloyd, Nora, Cernel and Sylvia Halvorson. He also leaves three brothers, Halvor Halvorson of Slayton, Minn., Severt Halvorson of Jewell and Ingvald Halvorson of Des Moines.

Mr. Halvorson was a man of good habits and a fine moral character, a devoted husband and indulgent father and leaves a large circle of friends who will mourn his death.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 31, from the Salems church.
