Obituary
Mrs. Osmund Peterson passed away at a hospital in Minneapolis Saturday, where she had been recently taken for treatment. She had been sickly for years, the victim of gall stones and other trouble, and at the time had been critically ill and near death. In an effort to restore her to health she was taken to the hospital for examination and treatment and an operation if her condition was considered good enough to withstand one.
She felt so well and her condition was so good that an operation was decided upon and it was performed on Saturday morning. It was entirely successful in every way and her condition was considered as excellent and it made all happy. While conversing with her son she commplained of pain in the chest; the next moment she was dead. Her heart had failed her. She lived three hours after the operation.
Mrs Peterson was born in Ilhe, Norway on March 9, 1841, and died on Saturday, July 10, 1920, being 79 years of age at the time of her death. On July 13, 1871 she was united in marriage to Osmond Peterson. A few years later they immigrated to this country, making their first home near Slater. They lived here for a number of years and then moved to a farm east of Roland. Here they lived for twelve years moving back to Slater in 1908 where she continued to live up to the time of her death. She is survived by her husband and a son, Rev. N. O. Peterson of Clear Lake and a sister, Mrs. Torres Nerem of Story City.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from Salems church, Revs. Sandven and Duea officiating. Interment took place in the Roland Cemetery.
