Funeral Services Held Saturday for M. M. Day of Nevada

Funeral services for the late M. M. Day, 72, who died at his home on Tenth street, Nevada, Wednesday evening, were held Saturday afternoon. There was prayer at the home followed by the funeral at the Church of Christ at 2:00 with his pastor, Rev. C. V. Pence in charge. Burial was in the Cambridge cemetery.

The following sketch of the life of the deceased was read at the service.

Martin Melvin Day, son of Absalom and Emeline Day, was born August 9, 1864 in Tipton county, Indiana, and departed this life at his home in Nevada, May 26, 1937, at the age og 72 years, 10 months and 14 days.

His mother preceded him in death when he was just a boy. From then on he made his home with his grandparents until his marriage. He was married to Martha Christy November 27, 1889.

In the spring of 1907 they moved from Indiana to a farm near Maxwell. They resided there several years, then bought a farm near Nevada.

Seventeen years ago this spring they purchased a home on Tenth street in Nevada, where they have lived happily until his death.

Although no children were born to them during their forty-seven years of married life, their home was open to friends at all times.

The familiar greeting of Uncle Melvin will be long remembered by many. Although death came very suddenly, he had lived a life assurance. He was a member of Christian church.

He leaves a faithful wife to mourn his loss and host of friends and relatives who knew him as a good neighbor and sincere friend.

Also one brother, John A. Day of Tipton, Indiana, and two sisters, Mrs. Albert Patterson of Brooeston, Indiana, Mrs. Phoebe Lacy of Knobblesville, Indiana and six half-brothers and two half sisters. Other relatives of the departed are a number of nieces and nephews and their children who will greatly miss him.
