Funeral Service for Mrs. J. M. Jones

Special to the Journal.
Collins, Sept. 19--Funeral services for Mrs. J. M. Jones, 82, pioneer Collins woman, who died at her home here Thursday of last week, were held at the Church of Christ in Collins Sunday afternoon at 2:00, followed by interment in the Collins cemetery. Her pastor Rev. George J. Comford was in charge of the service.

Lucinda Frances Marsh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie March, was born in Indiana, Feb. 8, 1852 departed this life at her home in Collins, Iowa, Sept. 13, 1934 Age 82 years, 7 months and 5 days. In 1873 he came with her mother to Collins, Iowa. On Nov. 28, 1874, she was united in marriage to J. M. Jones. To this union was born 4 children, 3 who with their father, remain to mourn her departure. They are Mrs. Flora A. Lening* of Porter, Minn., and J. S. and E. E. Jones of Collins. One daughter, Bertha M., died at the age of 2 1/2 years. Many years ago she was converted and united with the United Brethren church where she retained her membership until her Lord called her to the church triumphant above. She was a kind, effectionate [sic] wife and mother, a real neighbor always willing to deny herself to help others in caring for the aged and the afflicted. Many kind deeds are recorded in God's book of remembrance.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: The daughter of Lucinda Frances (Marsh) Jones was Flora Ann (Jones) Luing, not Lening as stated. Flora married John Alfred Luing on 1 June 1899 in Nevada, Story County, Iowa.
