Hold Final Rites For Mrs. Jennie Dunahoo

Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Dunahoo, 93, widow of the later Matt Dunahoo, who passed away Thursday morning, April 13, at the Story County home where she had been since 1944 were held Saturday afternoon from the Cooper-Moore Funeral home in Maxwell.

The rites were in charge of Rev. G. H. Hulsebus, pastor of the Maxwell Presbyterian church. Mrs. Alice Gooden, soloist, sang "Rock of Ages" and "Nearer My God to Thee," with Mrs. Betty Porter, accompanist, on the organ.

Interment was in the family lot in the Iowa Center cemetery. Pall bearers were Monroe Moody, Curtis Bowen, Robert Bowen, Earl Bowen, Ernie Glasgow and Van Busenberg.

Obituary

During the services Rev. Hulsebus read the following brief life sketch.

"Loreta Jane Selby, daughter of C. D. Selby, was born in the town of Iowa Center on Feb. 27, 1857. She was one of eight children born to this union, four boys and four girls.

"She spent her girlhood in Story county on a farm northeast of where she was born.

"She was united in marriage to Madison R. Dunahoo on Feb. 11, 1880. To this union two sons were born, Floyd C. and J. Glen.

"The father and one son preceded her in death.

"Mrs. Dunahoo was a former member of the United Evangelical church of Iowa Center and when she and her husband moved to Maxwell she transferred, by letter, her membership to the First Presbyterian church of Maxwell. She was an active worker in the church, Sunday school and Christian Endeavor Aid Society. She was a charter member of the Iowa Center Cemetery Association and active in the work as long as she was able to attend.

"She was truly a pioneer of Iowa and Story county, having spent 93 years, one month and 17 days. From the date of her birth she claimed no other home."

Boone and one sister, Mrs. Carrie Selby Dudley of Walthill, Nebraska.
