The funeral party then came to McCallsburg where the funeral proper was held Saturday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. from the Bethany Lutheran church at McCallsburg, she being a charter member of the said church. The pastor of the church, Rev. H. N. Bakke, was in charge, with Mrs. John Helland at the piano.

Mrs. B. A. Imsland and Mrs. Louis Fuller sang 2 songs, "Rock of Ages" and "Beyond the Sunset", and Ludwig Jacobson, a nephew of Mrs. Jacobson, sang "I Know of a Sleep in Jesus' Name."

The floral offerings were beautiful and there were several gifts to Missions and charities. Mrs. Orville Ellingson had charge of the flowers. The pall bearers were John Bergland, Ed Bergland, Obed Erickson, Fred Erickson, Ole Imsland and S. Knaphus.

The remains were laid to rest by the side of the husband in the Warren Township cemetery.

Otilia Jacobson was born May 30, 1858, at Oslo, Norway. Her mother died while she was quite a young girl. In the fall of 1878 she was united in marriage to Edward Jacobson of Stavanger, Norway. The following year her husband emigrated to America, settling near McCallsburg, Ia., to make a home for his family whom he sent for the next year.

To this union twelve children were born, three dying in infancy, Inga at the age of four years and Mrs. Lena Markussen in 1943. Seven children surviving are Gunda Hansen, Jennie Sabine and Christy Hanson of San Francisco, Calif., Julia Reagan of Airdale and Erwin, Otto and Roy of near Thompson, Ia. She leaves eighteen grandchildren, and ten great grand children. Her husband passed away Dec. 28, 1921.

Mr. and Mrs. Jacobson settled on a farm two miles south of McCallsburg, which continued to be their home until the death of Mr. Jacobson. Since that time Mrs. Jacobson had been making her home with her sons and daughters having made thirteen trips to California and back.

During her pioneer years, she saw many hardships, but made the best of it and raised her family to the ripe old age of 86 years, 7 months and 25 days, passing away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 1945, at the home of her son Otto at Forest City after having been bedfast only two weeks. She was the last surviving member of her family
