From Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home & Crematory obituary, Nevada and Maxwell, Story County, Iowa:

Sandra Kay (Fry) Myhre, age 68, passed away November 18, 2019, at her home in rural Nevada, Iowa, after a long battle with heart and kidney disease. The love of family and friends surrounded her. Sandy was born September 26, 1951, in Pasadena, California, to John V. and Dorothy Ann (McIntosh) Fry. She was the fifth of eight children. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1970 and Des Moines Area Community College in 1971 with a Medical Assistant certification. On October 16, 1971, Sandy married her high school sweetheart Elwyn Leroy Myhre, Jr. Sandy and Elwyn spent their early married life in Nevada where she worked for Dr. Gerald King. They later moved to Wyoming where they spent 30+ years working hard and raising their children. Upon returning to Nevada, Sandy helped establish S-14 Boarding and worked alongside Elwyn to make it a successful small business.

Sandy enjoyed cooking and baking, old movies, and The Beatles. She adored her grandkids. She had a loving soul and compassionate heart for her family and friends. Your joy was her joy and she felt your sorrow as deeply as you did. She and Elwyn’s home was the hub of many Fry family gatherings, and she always had a cup of coffee ready for anyone who stopped by to share it around the kitchen table.

Those left to remember and cherish Sandy’s life include: her husband of 48 years Elwyn Myhre, Jr.; children and grandchildren Jason (Dionne) Myhre, Jackson and Joshua of Suffolk, Virginia, and Sarah (Marty) Coolley, Isabel and Ryan of Nevada, Iowa; siblings Dennis (Janet) Fry of Harlan, Iowa; Carol Dodge of Burlington, Iowa; Mike (Arlene) Fry of Nevada, Iowa; Constance (Steve) Soesbe of Nevada, Iowa; Cliff (Linda) Fry of Kalona, Iowa; and Debra (Doug) Wunder of Ankeny, Iowa; an uncle Clare (Mary) McIntosh of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, many extended family members, and friends.

Sandy was preceded in death by two infant children Elizabeth and Joseph, her parents and grandparents, many aunts and uncles, and a beloved brother Richard (Dick) Fry.

Memorials may be sent in Sandy’s name to St. Croix Hospice. No public funeral service is planned.

Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
