Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Eugenia Lee Stanley, age 75, of Ames, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019 at her home.

Friends may call from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the Adams Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 11, 2019 at First United Methodist Church.

Lee was born on October 31, 1944 in Louisville, Kentucky, daughter of Charles Stedman and Eugenia (Weber) Lincoln. She graduated from Berkeley High School in Berkeley, California, and earned a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Education at UNLV. Lee raised her family in Yuba City, CA, Bullhead City, AZ and Las Vegas, NV, before relocating in Ames to be closer to her granddaughters. She was married to Robert Gartrell, William Barnes and Maurice Stanley.

Lee was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, having been sober since June 23, 1986. She enjoyed learning and helping others with their sobriety. Lee was also a Steven Minister and an active member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed writing, self-publishing a book on child rearing, literature, movies, gardening, artwork, and especially painting. Lee loved animals and the natural world. In most recent years, she became very active and vocal in politics. She loved socializing with friends and going out to eat good food. Lee most loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Lee is survived by her daughters, Amy Gartrell (Patterson Beckwith) of New York City, and Emily (Greg) Fuerst of Ames; her grandchildren, Julia May Fuerst and Lillian Rose Fuerst; and her sisters: Victoria Sherwood, Melinda (David) Bowie, and Christina (John) Irvin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Lincoln, III; and her husbands.
