Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Martha Marie Hogue, age 102, of Story City, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the Households of Bethany.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 in the Chapel at the Households of Bethany in Story City. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in the Sharon Presbyterian Church Cemetery near Donaldson, Iowa.

Born on May 18, 1917 in rural Donaldson, Martha was the daughter of Fred and Cora (Kelly) Watkins. She grew up on a farm near Donaldson in Lee County and graduated from Farmington High School in 1935. Following high school, Martha attended normal training, allowing her to teach in the country schools. She was united in marriage to Thaine Hogue on July 25, 1935. Martha was a homemaker and raised the couples seven children. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, playing cards, and reading. She was a past member of the Eastern Star.

Martha is survived by her children: Marjorie Davis, Virginia (Marvin) Humble, Lyn Terrill, Allan (Loralyn) Hogue, Mary (Jeff) Crosser, Jane (Tom) Pederson, and Bill (Ikuko) Hogue; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thaine; a grandson, Phillip Davis; two sisters; and three brothers.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Adams Funeral Home and online condolences may be left for Martha’s family at www.adamssoderstrum.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Mary Greeley Hospice.
