Former Story County Man Dies In Des Moines

Bert Dawson, 66, former Story county man, died at his home in Des Moines Wednesday from the effects of a stroke of apoplexy suffered a few weeks ago while he was spending the winter at McAllen, Tex.

Funeral services will be held at Dunn's Funeral Home in Des Moines Friday at 1:30 p. m., after which the body will be brought to Nevada for interment in the Nevada cemetery. It is expected to have the committal services at about 4 p. m.

Mr. Dawson, who was 66 years of age the day before he died, was for many years a resident of Story county, having been in charge of the Story City telephone exchange for a number of years, in which work he was assisted by his wife.

Following the passing of his first wife, he was remarried and is survived by Mrs. Dawson and by a son and daughter by the first wife, both of whom are married.

He was a son of the late Washington Dawson and a brother of Mrs. C. E. Markland of 911 Eighth street, Nevada.

He had lived at Indianola for a number of years after leaving Story City, but more recently his home had been in Des Moines.

Lee Dawson, former Story county man, who has been farming near Cornel, Wis., for the past 18 years, is in the city today. Mr. Dawson came back to Iowa upon receipt of rather belated word of the illness and sudden death of his father, the late Bert Dawson of Des Moines, who was buried here Friday. Learning of the serious condition of his father, he hastened out here only to learn that the parent had died and was already buried. He will visit in and around Nevada and also with his uncle, Frank Dawson of near Randall.
