Larry Dean Searl, age 68, of Stratford, passed away at Mercy One Medical Center in Des Moines on October 15, 2019. Larry was born in Cameron, Missouri on December 7, 1950, the son of John and Lois (Gooden) Searl. Larry graduated from Story City High School in 1969. Larry was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He worked for many years as a maintenance supervisor for the Ames School system and Lutheran Social Services.

Larry is preceded in death by his wife Barb in 1989, and parents. Larry is survived by his soulmate and longtime partner, Laura Lavender, his children; Larry (Madeline) Mohr of San Diego, CA, Jesse (Sarah) Mohr of Roland, Derick Anderson of Stratford, Beau Lavender of Ames, Harli Schutt of Williams, and Shelby (Hunter) Dilley of Williams. Stepdaughters: Krista (Scott) Broesder of Boone, Dana Nystrom of Hollister, MO, and DeAnne Nystrom of North Hills, CA. Twin Sister, Sandy Searl of Ames, Brother John Roy Searl of Story City, and seven Grandchildren.

A private family burial will be Monday, October 21, 2019.
