Mark Alan Wheelock, 61, of Nevada, Iowa passed at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2019, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing, Iowa. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 3:30 p.m. at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Rural Nevada, Iowa. A time of refreshments and fellowship will follow at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg, Iowa.
Mark was born in Nevada, Iowa on November 21, 1957 to Timothy and Margaret (Griffith) Wheelock. He went to Colo High School and graduated with the class of 1976. He then attended DMACC where he earned an associates degree. Mark worked various jobs over the years, but most recently farmed.
He loved to spend time with his family, most especially his girls and grandkids. Mark also enjoyed riding his Harley, working on motorcycles, working the land, restoring tractors, and collecting Hot Wheels.
Those left to remember his life are his daughters Emily (Matt) Banks, Ashley (Joe) Yakymi, Erika (Owen) Gossett, and Natelie (Taylor Wirth) Moody; grandkids Rylee, Ryan, Jenna, Mason, Andrew, Malia, Julie, Emelia, and Norah; step-father Bill Heintz; siblings John (Kathy) Wheelock, Jim (Sheri) Wheelock, Jerry (Jan) Wheelock, Steve (Diane) Wheelock, and Ramona (Merrell) Kilborn; many aunts and uncles; many nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew Michael Kilborn, and niece Kerie Kilborn.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
To honor Mark, the family requests that you dress casual and ride your Harley to the service, if applicable.
