Lois Rose Lorenz age 95, of Ames, formerly of Traer, passed away at Green Hills Health Care, in Ames. Visitation will be held 10- Noon Saturday, September 14, at Amity Presbyterian Church, rural Reinbeck, the memorial service and lunch will follow. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Gladbrook. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in care of Lisa.
Lois was born June 8, 1924 on a farm in rural Gladbrook, the second of five daughters born to Harry and Esther (Bruene) Seydel. She attended country school through eighth grade and graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1941. She attended Iowa State University and AIB is Des Moines. Lois worked in the office of Rath Packing Co for 2 ½ years before her marriage to Lyle Lorenz. They farmed near Lincoln, Traer and Reinbeck for 32 years.
Lois was a 50+ year member of Amity Church, Order of the Eastern Star and AAA Auto Club. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, clipping recipes, cooking and visiting with family and friends. After retirement, she delivered floral arrangements for several years for Mitchell's Flower Basket and C & C Flowers in Reinbeck.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Linda Johnson of Ames, Lisa (Mike) Thompson of Traer and Lori (Ron) Huebner of Newburgh Indiana, Granddaughter Catlin Thompson of Waterloo, sister Phyllis Smith of Ames and nephew Brian (Fazia) Smith of Miami Beach Florida, several cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lyle in 1976, and sisters Marjorie Frey, Joyce Seydel, Barbara Seydel, brother-in-laws, Kenneth Frey, Gerry Smith and son-in law, Larry Johnson.
