Nancy was born on March 30, 1951, to Melvin and Della Wyoma Alborn. She was raised in West Des Moines and later moved to a family farm in Stanhope where she attended South Hamilton schools and graduated in 1969. She then attended Ellsworth Community College where she earned her secretarial degree. She worked at the Iowa Department of Transportation for 42 years in various administrative assistant roles. While at the DOT, she met her husband, Steve.

Steve and Nancy were happily married for 45 years. Nancy loved spending time with friends and family. She was a designated hostess and organizer of the family. She loved celebrating the holidays, decorating the house for family gatherings. Her children and seven grandchildren kept her busy and filled her life with joy. She made it her mission to attend their sporting events and school activities.

She was a dedicated member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School when her children were younger and sang in the church choir. After retirement from the DOT in 2013, Nancy became involved in volunteering at the church and delivering Meals on Wheels. She also enjoyed spending time with her Silver Sneakers family and being a member of the local PEO Chapter PB.

Some of the things she cherished most were the Iowa State Cyclones, the Norsemen, Huskies, Martin Bros., weekly trips to the salon and the Iowa State Fair. She always treasured her Christmas candy making tradition with her best friend Lana and was proud to pass this tradition on to the next generation.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 45 years, Steve; children Nicole (Jason) Darling of Winterset; Lisa (Mitch) Anderson of Winterset; John (Rachel) McMenamin of Bennington, NE and seven grandchildren Easton, Avary, Stella, Scarlett, Trey, Ty and Tayte; siblings Rose (Don), Carolyn (Don), Terry (Ellen).

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.
