The active pallbearers at Collins, long time friends of the deceased were Harve Southern, Amos Hanson, Ed Stratton, J. E. Hale, Frank Holland and Geo. Perrin. The honorary pallbearers were chosen from his close friends and neighbors. The following obituary was read by Rev. Stevens at the services.

Clarence E. Campbell, son of Ira and Emily Campbell was born July 35, 1878, at Clyde, Jasper county, Ia. and departed this life at 4:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, July 13, at his home at 1626 East Ninth street, Des Moines, Ia., at the age of 58 years, 11 months and 18 days. At the age of 13 he moved with his parents to Collins and it was here he grew to manhood. He was married on May 8, 1901 to Mae James of Palmyra, Warren county, Ia. and to this union one daughter, Zela, now Mrs. Zela Ozmun, was born. The family made their home at Collins until 1920, when they moved to Des Moines. His health began to fail several months ago and every thing was done, even to a change of climate, to help him regain it but to no avail. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and daughter of Des Moines, one sister Miss Alice Campbell, three brothers, Ellsworth, Curtis and Frank all of Collins and three nephews Lloyd, Ralph and Ira, also of Collins. Two sisters and two brothers have preceded him in death. Mr. Campbell was well known and loved in this community, he owned farms and property here and spent much of his time attending to business matters and removing old acquaintances.

A beautiful tribute written by his Des Moines neighbors, and read at the funeral services in which they praised him for his loyalty to family and friends and his thoughtfulness and kindness to others in their need and distress.
