Miss Carrie Lewis Funeral Services Held In Cambridge

Funeral services for Miss Carrie Lewis were held Aug. 13 from the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cambridge with Rev. Harvey Kroepel officiating.

Bertha Karene (Carrie) Lewis was born Feb. 5, 1874 to Jonas and Caroline Lewis at the old homestead northwest of Cambridge.

She was baptized in the Palestine Lutheran Church and was a charter member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid.

She grew to womanhood in and around Cambridge after which time she made her home with her sister, Mrs. Margaret Anderson. Miss Lewis worked as a practical nurse.

In 1945 she purchased a home in Cambridge where she and her sister, Margaret lived together until Janurary 1961 when they entered the Sunset Home at Story City.

On Aug. 4th she suffered a stroke and was taken to the Story City Hospital where she was cared for until she died on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 12:23 p. m. at the age of 88 years, six months and six days.

Survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Anderson of Story City, Mrs Elsie Webb of Cambridge, and Mrs. Marie Stole of Garden City; four brothers, Oswald, Clarence and Miriam of Cambridge and Milford Lewis of Boone.
