Funeral Services Held At Zearing For Phoebe Wickham

Zearing, Nov. 8 -- Funeral service for Mrs. Phoebe Wickham were held in the Evangelical Church in Zearing Saturday, Oct. 20, with Rev. C. L. Fuller in charge. Pall bearers were Jesse Abbey, Roy Pulley, K. L. Cerka, Wilbur Eley, Manly Dakins and Ingwald Madison. Mrs. Paul John furnished the singing with Mrs. Delores Risse at the piano. Mrs. Anna Pulley and Miss Nettie Lutz took care of the flowers. Burial was in the Zearing cemetery.

Phoebe Rebekka Phillips Wickham, daughter of William and Katharine Phillips, was born November 13, 1870 in Marshall County, Iowa, and passed away on October 17th at the St. Thomas Mercy hospital in Marshalltown, Iowa, at the age of 74 years, 10 months, and 17 days. She lived most of her life in Lincoln Township.

She was married May 22, 1895, to William R. Wickham who preceded her in death twelve years ago. They had only one son, Howard, who survives her. There is also one brother, George Phillips, and four grandchildren, Margaret Gaunt of Zearing, Virginia Banta of San Diego, California, Harold in the navy, and Carole Jean at home. There are also two great grandchildren.

The Wickhams lived on a farm North East of Zearing until 1918 when they moved to Zearing. Fifteen months ago she went to live with Howard where she was lovingly cared for until her death.

She was a faithful attendant of church and Sunday School as long as her health permitted. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and of the Willing Workers society of the Evangelical Church.
