Funeral Services For Willard Ritland

Special to the Journal.
Huxley, April 30--Funeral services for Willard Ritland, 26, were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and two o'clock at the Fieldberg church. Dr. Andersen used for his text a portion of the first verse in the 12th chapter of Ecclesiastes, "Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth." The choir sang "Abide With Me" and "It Is Well, With My Soul." Irene Berhow sang a solo "Does God Care" and Ruby and Grace Berhow sang "God Will Take Care of You."

The pall-bearers were Ole Legvold, Jr. , Everett Ritlan, Palmer Savereid, Lester Ritland, Willard Anderson and Lowell Berhow. The church was filled with sorrowing relatives and friends.

Willard, youngest son of Weir and Hannah Ritland, was born on a farm west of Huxley, August 23, 1908. He was baptize and confirmed in the Fieldberg Lutheran church. He died at his home here April 21, 1934, after a lingering illness from tuberculosis, having reached the age of 25 years, 7 months and 28 days.

Besides his parents, he is mourned by the three sisters, Mrs. Irving Christianson of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Oscar Sesker of Ostrandes, Minn., Mrs. Clifford Myers of Huxley, three brothers Arnold of Chicago, Oscar of Story City and Jennings of Huxley. All wee present at the funeral services. One sister Hazel died a number of years ago. The remains were laid to rest in the Fieldberg cemetery.

Among the relatives and friends from a distance attending the services were Arnold Ritland from Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Sesker of Ostrander, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Irving Christianson and baby of Eagle Groe, Lloyd Ritland of Belle Plaine, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar E. Ritland and children, Mrs. Green, Mrs. and Mrs. John Savereid and children, Mrs. Otis Sevde of Story City, Mrs. Severt Savereid of Boone, Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Ritland, Osmond Riland, Mrs. Kenneth Cowan of McCallsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Ritland of Radcliffe, Mrs. Johnson, Harris and Viola of Randall, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Ritland, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Erickson and Reuben, Mrs. Ben Knutson of Roland, Mrs. Ross Bump of Zearing, Everett Ritland of Gilbert, Torrey, Hilda, Eva and Joyce Savereid of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Severeid of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Savereid of Elkhart and Mrs. Joe Johnson of Jewell.
