Mrs. Rachel Rulletad Laid to Rest Dec. 24th In Huxley Cemetery

HUXLEY -- Last rites for Mrs. Rachel Rullestad, longtime resident of near Huxley, were held Wednesday, December 24. A prayer service from the Duckworth Funeral home in Ames was held at 12:45 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Harry Stoutland, pastor of the Palestine Lutheran church. Pastor Stoutland opened the service by singing "There Is No Darkness When Jesus Comes," followed by scripture reading from I Peter, 1:2-3 and prayer. The service at the Palestine Lutheran church was held at 1:45 p.m. attended by a large gathering of relatives and friends. Mrs. Selmer Westvold of Huxley sang "I Know of a Sleep In Jesus Name," accompanied by Mr. DuWayne Wee, the church organist. It was an impressive service. It being Christmas Eve we were reminded of the birthday of the little Lord Jesus and Calvary as was brought out in the message by Pastor Stoutland. He spoke of the 17th verse from Malachi, third chapter. "And they shall be mine saith the Lord of Hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him." Rev. Peder Buland of Cambridge also brought a message from the 90th Psalm, 12th verse, "Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." Mrs. Westvold closed the service in singing, "Den Store Hvide Flok Vi Se."

Casket bearers were Robert Egemo, Glen Rullestad, and Joseph Overland of Ames, Stanley Freeland of Kelley, Ernest Rulletad of Jewell and Obert Overland of Huxley.

Burial service was held in the family lot in Lincoln cemetery north of Huxley.
