Obituary from Palm Beach National Chapel, Lake Worth, Florida.

Dale Merryl Carsrud, 83, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 7, 2019 in Atlantis, Florida. He was born April 1st, 1936 to Ernest and Gladys (Kallis) Carsrud in Watertown, South Dakota. On November 21st, 1959 he married Ghislaine (Gigi) Becker in Nevada, Iowa. Dale enjoyed helping others, being a good neighbor, and watching classic movies.

He is ssurvived by his loving and caring wife of 60 years Ghislaine, his daughter Marie-France Schreiber of Lakewood, Ohio, and son Eric Carsrud of Boynton Beach, Florida; 4 grandchildren Marisa, Madeline, Jillian and Logan; and one sister Linda Griffith of Nevada, Iowa.

Dale served for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1955 to 1958, stationed in Verdun, France where he met his wife Gigi. Dale enjoyed working with heavy machinery throughout his career; as a truck driver in the 60s; a supervisor for the construction of the A4 Autoroute between Verdun and Metz in France, and the new highway from Mecca to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to then new King Abdulaziz International Airport in the 1970s. Dale remained in the Middle East working in Dhahran for Aramco while the family returned stateside for the kids to complete their education. He finally returned back to the U.S. once the tension in the Middle East escalated, making it unsafe to remain in the Persian Gulf. Dale found a new passion in working with high rise cranes until his retirement in 2001.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14th from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Palm Beach National Chapel - 10055 Heritage Farms Road - Lake Worth , FL 33449. Funeral services will be on Monday, July 15th at 9:45 a.m. same location, Father Rick Riccardi will be officiating. The committal service will take place following the service at the chapel at South Florida National Cemetery by 11:00 a.m. in Lane #1.
