Peter O. Peterson Laid To Rest In St. Petri Cemetery

STORY CITY -- Funeral services for Peter O. Peterson were held May 26 from Larson Peterson funeral home and also Immanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. T. J. Alvestad officiating.

Lillian Alsanger sang two solos, "Come Ye Disconsolate" and "Den Store Hvide Flok" (Norwegian hymn) accompanied by Louise Olson. The text was from the book of Revelations, chapter 21: 1-11.

Pall bearers were Edward Peterson, Eugene Eness, Thomas Eness, Julius Olson, John Gildersleeve and Joel Jacobson.

Burial was in the South St. Petri cemetery.

Obituary

Peter Olai Peterson, son of Peter and Barbara Peterson was born near Bergen, Norway, on May 21, 1877. He passed away suddenly from a heart condition May 22, 1932, at his home in Story City at the age of 75 years and one day.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Norway. He immigrated to this country in 1893.

On August 4, 1900 he was united in marriage with Carrie Musland and resided on a farm near Gilbert until 1944, when they retired to Story City.

Mr. Peterson is survived by his wife and seven children: Palmer, Emil and Lester of Route 1, Ames, Mrs. Ruth Russell of Gilbert, Mrs. Doris (Oliver) Malmanger of Des Moines, Mrs. Alta (Edwin) Houge of Story Story City and Jeanette Peterson of Ames. Other survivors include 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Davenport of Des Moines, Mrs. Barbara Sandelius of Vista, Calif., and Mrs. Martina Bruno of Stockton, Calif., and one brother, Henrik of Valen, Norway.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Leona, one granddaughter, his parents, two sisters and one brother.

He was a faithful member of the Gilbert Evangelical Lutheran church in Story City.
