TWO MAXWELL PIONEER DEAD

ISAAC FISH AND MRS. FACKLER WILL BE BURIED SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Maxwell, Sept. 28--Maxwell was shocked today by the announcement of the death of two well-known pioneers of the neighborhood, Isaac Fish, 72, who died at his home here last night at 10 o'clock and Mrs. Katherine Fackler, 74, who died in the Methodist hospital in Des Moines this morning at 5:00.

Mr. Fish who had suffered a stroke of paralysis about three years ago, had been bedfast for the past 18 months and his death was no unexpected.

The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at the Presbyterian church in Maxwell, with Rev. J. W. Williams of Gladbrook in charge, assisted by Rev. O. J. Allard of Cedar Falls. Interment will be in the Maxwell cemetery.

Mr. Fish was a native of Indiana, where he was born September 30, 1860. He came to Iowa as a boy and had lived near or in Maxwell practically all of his life. The old farm was 6 miles northeast of Maxwell and there he lived until 1918 when he moved into town.

He was married December 29, 1886 to Flora Gearhart and to them eight children were born, all of whom with the wife survive Mr. Fish. they are Mrs. Anna Sealine of Stanhope, Mrs. Tom Cummings and Mrs. Roy Torry of Colo, Mrs. Eldon Richardson, Mrs. Harland Witmer, Mrs. Earl Bowen, Arthur Fish and Lee Fish all of Maxwell.

Mrs. Fackler Dead

The death of Mrs. Katherine Fackler, 74, occurred at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, where she had on Tuesday submitted to a major surgical operation. Death took place at 5:00 this morning.

Mrs. Fackler who was well known here was a native of Pennsylvania, where she was born March 26, 1860. She was married to W. H. Fackler in Pennsylvania in February, 1879. Coming out to Iowa soon, they lived in the Cambridge and Farrar neighborhoods until 21 years ago, when they moved into Maxwell. There Mr. Fackler died 7 year ago. She is survived by two sons, Harry Fackler at home and Charles Facker at Farrar; grandchildren, Mrs. Hazel Cash and Charlene Thompson of Anamosa, Mrs. Helen Keagle of Collins and Paul Fackler of Farrar, and a great grand daughter Jacqueline Keagle of Collins.

Funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 at the Methodist Episcopal church, Maxwell, with Rev. Scheuermann in charge. Burial will be in Maxwell cemetery.
